When Hurricane Sandy tore through the New Jersey coastline in 2012, businesses, homes, and local meeting spots were destroyed. The original American Legion Post 321, in Union Beach, was hit hard and needed to be rebuilt to new F.E.M.A. coastline standards. Building Services designed and built a new, raised structure that not only complied with post-Sandy flood standards but it maximized the use of the lot by providing additional parking under the raised structure. It was important the building also be ADA compliant, a challenge given the raised height of the first floor, but the new legion was ultimately fitted with a handsome new wheelchair ramp. Every build comes with it's own set of challenges and rewards, this however was a project it was was an honor to be a part of. We couldn't be more proud to be a part of seeing that the veterans of American Legion Post 321 have a fresh, new home to share stories and build fellowship in.
